After surviving liver cancer’s death sentence, Curtis Salgado has become synonymous with friendship as a vehicle for beating impossible odds, just as he is with his incarnation of the blues, which has a little bit of a British sound (think of a young Peter Green). The Portland-based musician grew up in Eugene, and returns Friday night to play a 9pm show at Whiskey River Ranch in Springfi eld. Salgado inspired John Belushi to create the Blues Brothers; the Blues Brothers album Briefcase Full of Blues is dedicated to him. After continuing to tour and create new music year after year, Salgado faced certain death without a liver transplant that he couldn’t pay for.
