With food prices hogtied to the cost of a barrel of crude oil these days, does it make much sense
to buy your organic salad greens from an oil-powered factory farm in California? Just a few square
feet of yard space at your home can be converted to a thriving food garden (as helpfully explained
in local author H.C. Flores’ Food Not Lawns), and the School Garden Project wants to energize locals
to explore this concept at a free workshop on “Landscape to Foodscape for Beginners.” An
experienced panel will gather in Springfi eld and give a hands-on instruction on converting a yard of
