BUMBERSHOOT Seattle’s three-day music extravaganza doesn’t lie when it claims to have a “diverse, genre-crossing” musical lineup. This year’s stars include Beck, Neko Case, Stone Temple Pilots, Lucinda Williams, Keyshia Cole, Minus the Bear and so many more, with more artists added all the time. Literary fans, you can check out graphic novel deities Adrian Tomine and Dan Clowes and OMG! William Gibson!, among others. The festival takes place in an array of venues around the Seattle Center, from the spacious Key Arena to outdoor stages around the International Fountain. Summer’s winding down; Bumbershoot’s one of the best ways to enjoy the end of it. At the Activist Alley, festival attendees can talk to local and international nonprofi t groups in between catching performances by Michael Franti (shocker!), Juno Reactor, Anthony B, JJ Grey and Mofro and more. At 4pm Saturday, a synchonized link-up with more than 300 other Earthdance locations occurs, and a song called the “prayer for peace” plays at each spot.
