Oregon Festival of American Music's Summer Music Festival, "Easy tq Remember: The Great American Songbook" comes to a close Saturday with Sunny Side of the Street, a concert with Rita Moreno and Friends at the Cuthbert Amphitheatre. Moreno, winner of the Oscar, the Emmy, the Grammy and the Tony, performs with the OFAM Big Band; Dick Hyman on piano; Ted Sommer on percussion and Ken Peplowski blowin' the clarinet. Locals Martha, Nathan, Treysi and Jahan competed in a poetry slam draw of 63 teams, coming out triumphantly right in the mid- dle of the pack; pretty stellar for a first year team. Congratulations! A bunch of footage was shot and a documentary screening of the Eugene team against the nation is in the works, to ~e screened at Foolscap Books. More news on tt:ie waV: Bela, Fleck and the Flecktones travel between the lines that separate pop, funk, jazz, rock, folk, classical and bluegrass.
