LCSO Case #24-5080 LCSO & EPD Drone Team Arrest Lane County, OR - About an hour past midnight on October 3rd, an observant Lane County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a car in the Danebo area associated with Kristopher Robert Glenn, 38, of Veneta. Deputies have been searching for Glenn for some time, as he was wanted by the US Marshals. The deputy was able to see Glenn in the passenger seat, and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle attempted to elude, and deputies pursued. The vehicle finally stopped in the area of W. 18th Avenue and S. Bertelsen Road, Eugene. Glenn ran from the vehicle, however deputies and Eugene Police officers set a perimeter. The driver, Elise Catrina Lockwood, 33, was arrested without incident. A Eugene Springfield Metro Drone operator from Eugene Police launched a drone. He observed an obvious heat signature of a person hurriedly moving to the north, and aired the information to deputies and police in the area. The suspect gave up running after spotting the drone and laid in the in the grass, waiting for officers. Glenn was taken into custody without further issue. Both were found to be in possession of methamphetamine, and Glenn had been in possession of a realistic looking pellet gun. Lockwood was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Attempt to Elude Police Officer by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Glenn was lodged at the Lane County Jail on new charges of Attempt to Elude Police Officer by Foot and Possession of Methamphetamine. Glenn was also lodged on failure to appear warrants for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. He was also lodged for Failure to Appear in the 1st Degree and a parole violation. LCSO Case #24-5323 Fatal crash on Bob Straub Pkwy Springfield, OR - On October 3rd at about 10 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash with injury that occurred in the intersection of Bob Straub Parkway and S. 57th Street, Springfield. Lane County Sheriff’s major collision investigators also responded. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Initial investigation indicates a Buick sedan with a single occupant was driving north on Bob Straub Parkway when a Prius with three occupants, including a baby, entered the intersection from S. 57th Street to turn south on Bob Straub Parkway. The Buick struck the side of the Prius. All occupants were transported to the hospital, however the driver of the Buick was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and later died. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin have been notified. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Springfield Police Department and Springfield Public Works for their initial response and traffic control during this investigation. LCSO Case #24-5328 Rape Suspect Arrested Lane County, OR - In late January, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the River Road area of Eugene for a report of suspicious conditions. After reviewing evidence at the scene and area security camera recordings, the responding Deputies had reason to believe a sexual assault had occurred in the early morning hours. The case was forwarded to Detectives at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office for follow up. Detectives learned the victim was transient in the area and did not know the suspect. Evidence left at the scene was sent to the Oregon State Forensic Labs for DNA analysis. On September 23rd, 2024, Detectives received information from the Oregon State Labs advising Curtis Lee Larmore, 38, was a DNA match. Detectives quickly worked to locate Curtis, and on September 26th, Detectives located Curtis in an apartment in the River Road area. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Rape in the 1st Degree and Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree. LCSO Case #24-0446 K-9 Team Seizes Fentanyl, Heroin Douglas County, OR – Yesterday, an Oregon State Police K-9 team intercepted fentanyl and heroin destined for Portland. On Oct. 22, 2024, at about 11 a.m., an Oregon State Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 5 northbound near milepost 135 in Douglas County. During the stop, the trooper observed signs of criminal activity and deployed a drug detection K-9. The vehicle search resulted in the discovery of 5.8 pounds of fentanyl and 5 pounds of heroin with suspected fentanyl inside the vehicle. The driver, Dago Rodrigo Rodrigues (22) of Oakland (CA), and passenger, Mateo Marin Peraza (20) also of Oakland (CA) were arrested for unlawful possession and delivery of fentanyl and heroin and lodged in the Douglas County Jail. Fatal Crash on HWY 126 Lane County, Ore - On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 3:15 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a four-vehicle crash on Hwy 126, near milepost 19, in Lane County. The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Kenworth log truck, operated by Billy Lee Bales Coder (50) of Myrtle Point, was passing through the Knowles Creek Tunnel when a catastrophic engine failure caused an oil spill approximately 200 yards long before the vehicle exited the tunnel and parked along side the roadway. A westbound Nissan Rogue, operated by Mary Helen Dale (65) of Florence, lost control in the oil slick and crashed into the Kenworth before moving off of the highway. A westbound Toyota Prius, operated by Radiant Jaime Gaines (48) of Eugene, lost control in the oil slick, crossed into the eastbound lane and struck an eastbound Chevrolet HHR, operated by Christine Dorene Weathers (59) of Florence, head- on. The operator of the Chevrolet (Weathers) was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Kenworth Douglas, Lane Counties & Statewide (Coder) was not injured. The operator of the Nissan (Dale) was not injured. The operator of the Toyota (Gaines) suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local medical center. The highway was impacted for approximately 9.5 hours during the on- scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. OSP was assisted by Western Lane Ambulance and Fire, Mapleton Fire, and ODOT. Fatal Crash on HWY 126E Lane County, OR - On Monday, October 14, 2024, at 12:21 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 126E, near milepost 24, in Lane County. The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Dodge Ram 3500, operated by Colton Lane Wellette (20) of Monroe, was pulling a gooseneck trailer loaded with bales of hydroseed. As the Dodge was negotiating a curve the trailer overturned spilling the load into the westbound lane. A westbound Toyota Corolla, operated by Sierra Marie Evers- Hellmich (37) of Eugene, collided with the debris from the over-turned trailer causing significant damage to the Toyota. A passenger in the Toyota, Kurt Allen Hellmich (71) of Arcata (CA), was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the Toyota (Evers-Hellmich) suffered reported minor injuries. Another passenger in the Toyota, Lynn Evers (76) of Aracata (CA), suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The highway was impacted for approximately five hours during the on- scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. OSP was assisted by the Leaburg Fire Department, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and ODOT. From Statewide CG Murder Suspect Arrested Portland, OR - In June, a deceased female was located in the Cottage Grove area who appeared to be the victim of homicide. Lane County Sheriff’s detectives identified the victim as a missing person, Rozaleena Faith Rasmussen, 29, from Cottage Grove. Detectives identified the suspect as Anthony Wesley Tyrrell, 31, of Cottage Grove. A nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest for Murder in the 2nd Degree. Detectives tracked Tyrrell to Portland, and worked with area agencies on the case. On Saturday, October 5th, Portland Police Bureau arrested Tyrrell on the warrant and additional local charges while investigating an unrelated incident. Lane County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate the case while Tyrrell is in custody at the Multnomah County Jail. For their assistance on this case, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Portland Police Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, U.S. Marshals Service, and Oregon State Police. LCSO Case 24-3453 Police Seek Video from Party Shooting Josephine County, OR – Oregon State Police detectives are asking for witnesses to a non-lethal shooting to come forward with any video of the incident. On Oct. 26, 2024, at about 2:00 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at a large party in rural Josephine County in the Spencer Creek area. An adult male was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle from the party and was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Many of the party attendees were juvenile and intoxicated. However, all the individuals involved in the altercation that led to the shooting have been identified and are over 18 years of age. Multiple party attendees fled from the scene, resulting in two rollover traffic crashes with minor injuries. Investigators do not believe there are any public safety threats stemming from this incident. Investigators believe multiple cell phone videos of the incident exist and are asking witnesses to come forward. The investigation is ongoing and OSP is not releasing the names of the parties involved at this time. OSP Investigates Officer Shooting Lincolc County, OR - On Saturday, October 19th,2024, at approximately 12:22 p.m., the Lincoln City Police Department responded to report of a domestic disturbance between a male and female at the Motel 6, located at 3517 NW Highway 101, in Lincoln City, OR. Officers responded to the motel, identified the suspect, and discovered outstanding warrants for his arrest. The occupants of the room also appeared to be associated with a stolen vehicle located in the parking lot of the hotel. At approximately 13:04 p.m., Lincoln City Police officers contacted the male suspect in the hotel room and he was noncompliant. During the contact, the suspect had two firearms in his waistband which he reached for and was shot by officers. First aid was rendered at the scene and the suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The deceased suspect is identified as Francisco Campos (36) of Woodburn (OR). Per the Lincoln County Deadly Force Response Plan under Senate Bill 111, the Lincoln County Major Crime Team was activated for the investigation and the Oregon State Police has taken the role of the lead investigating agency. The Oregon State Police is being assisted by the Newport Police Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln City Police Department, the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office. K-9 TeamSseizes Crystal Meth Linn County, OR – An Oregon State Police K-9 team seized a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine earlier this week. On Oct. 8, 2024, at about 5:00 p.m., an Oregon State Trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 5 in Linn County for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper recognized signs of possible drug trafficking and deployed his drug detection K-9. A search of the vehicle revealed 40 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in the trunk. The driver, Sheyla Jesmely Serrano Lopez (27) of Shafter (CA), was arrested and lodged in jail. No additional information is available for release at this time.
