International Singer Diane Lou Azô Performs in Drain

Are A You
Ready?
call to readiness for North
Douglas County. Announcing this
message to, starting with, Curtin,
Drain, Elkton, Yoncalla, Scottsburg,
Oakland and surrounding rural areas.
When mishaps occur, whether natural
or unnatural, some folks get left high
and dry, some don’t. Some run to the
problem to offer their help to neighbors
and even strangers. The difference in
most all cases is preparedness.
Do you want to secure your
household for when something
unexpected occurs? It’s hard to
know what to be ready for, but this
is the time to do some preliminary
planning. Look around your home,
property, pantry, and list what you
need to sustain your household for an
unknown period of time. Next, stock
up in case the predicted 9.0 occurs or
any disaster, weather or fire event or
any calamity - world ending or not.
Being alert to news, weather and
crime/abduction news & information
and knowing how to reach family
members and neighbors is part of
being prepared. More than a neighbor
watch, let’s become Neighborhood
Ready.
Interested in forming a group for
like minded preparedness, join us.
Watch for future articles to, hopefully
help folks be prepared and ready,
maybe educate those looking to help
themselves.
On Sunday, April 21, 2024 3:00PM, Friends
of the Mildred Whipple Library presented the
music of Diane Lou Azô and her band at the
Drain Civic Center.
Diane is touring the States from her home
country of South America, promoting her most
recent album. Diane’s music was a combina-
tion and mix of Latin and American Blues
and Jazz and classic Brazillian folk music.
Her performance was feisty and melodic and
thouroughly enjoyed by all.
Yoncalla’s Hanging Flower Baskets
On HWY 99 and Main St Coming in May
Watch for the Yoncalla Beautification
flower baskets to be hung on Hwy.
99 and Main St. on May 11 th . The
members are so pleased with how
beautiful the flowers look even though
they won’t be trailing down the sides
of the baskets for awhile. We all enjoy
the anticipation of when the flowers
spill over the sides. The Yoncalla
Beautification Committee will also be
putting up our spring banners on May
11th. Our members are very grateful
to all those who have donated to our
organization and who have sponsored
baskets. We are especially grateful this
past month to the Yoncalla Chamber of
Commerce for a sizable donation. We
have no other source of funding other
than donations and grants. If you
would like to donate to The Yoncalla
Beautification Project , contact the
committee treasurer, Doris Bartlett,
at 541-315-0608 or P.O. Box 936,
Yoncalla, OR 97499.
The fundraiser for the Friends of the Mil-
dred Whipple Library was a very enthusiastic
musical performance by international singer
Diane Lou Azô! The $5 suggested donation per
person, included raffle baskets, refreshments,
and a Greet & Meet for local author Bob
Crites. All proceeds from this event benefit the
North Douglas Library District’s DollyParton
Imagination Library program, which provides
a FREE book a month for children under 5 in
Drain, Yoncalla, Elkton, Curtin, & Scottsburg,
