Elkton Rendezvous / Fort Umpqua Days
ELKTON, OREGON - The community
of Elkton is making plans for their annual
celebration of local history held on September
2nd & 3rd of Labor Day Weekend. Historic
reenactors will set up camp on the grounds
of Fort Umpqua, a life-size replica of a
Hudson’s Bay trading fort, to show what life
was like in the Umpqua River Valley in the
mid-1800’s.
Guests can visit with blacksmiths and
trappers, press their own cider, enjoy kids’
activities and visit live animal exhibits. On
Saturday, educators from the Cow Creek
Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians’ Education
Program will be on site to teach people about
Native American culture.
Enjoy Elkton’s hometown parade and
famous pie auction on Saturday, along with
a performance by the Sunny Sky Boys from
11am-1pm. A wide range of other activities
including live music, artisan booths, tours of
ECEC’s butterfly pavilion and an opportunity
to “Adopt-A-Butterfly” continue all weekend.
Culinary highlights include a Lions’ Club
pancake breakfast, BBQ fundraiser and
ECEC’s student-run Outpost Cafe.
Most activities run from 10am-4pm. Each
day wraps up with Elkton’s live action
musical pageant, Echoes of the Umpqua,
at 5pm. A schedule of activities and
more information is available at https:
