Sandy graduate has role in play “ The Miracle W orker," the drama that tells the story of blind Helen Keller and her teacher, friend and partner, Anne Sullivan, will play at the George Fox College at 8 p.m. on Jan. 22, 23, 29, 30 and 31. Cast m em bers include D ix ie Cochran, a 1986 graduate of Sandy High School, who plays Viney. SCP plans trip to Ashland Reservations are now being taken by Sandy Community Players for an annual trip to Ashland and the Shakespearean Festival on May 29, 30 and 31. The cost for tour bus transporta tion is 835; for two night's lodging at the Stratford Inn, 885; and tickets to four plays, 855. Program set on seniors and drugs -1 * .a /' The Sandy Senior Center will be participating in a community educa tion project on drug awareness spon sored by the Clackamas County Men- I tai Health gerontology program and the Oregon office of alcohol and drug Io programs. Katherine Stouffer, project coor dinator for Clackamas County, will facilitate the sessions to be held on Jan. 28 and Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m. Io ¿1 Included in the program will be the presentation of a skit by seniors in- ■t volved in the arts for elders program. Participants will be given a quiz n before and after the two-day session U to test their knowledge of drug- related issues. Seniors with a January birthday will be special guests at the birthday party on Tuesday. Jan. 27 at 12:30 p.m. following the Loaves and Fishes lunch. The Silvertones will be on hand with special music for the birth day celebration. This months dine-out will be held at Charbo's Restaurant on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 5:15 p.m. Charbo’s, 36641 S.E. Highway 26, offers a senior menu with nine entrees from which to choose. Transportation will be pro vided upon request. A sack lunch at noon and a movie matinee is planned for Thursday, Jan. 29. Seniors may bring a sand wich and supplement it with hot soup and coffee prepared by the center for Corrections _ Two students were inadvertently left off the Firwood School honor roll, which was published Jan. 8. They were Amy Fabian and Johanna Tobias A Dec. 24 story about Randy Polivka, who was named volunteer ' firefighter of the year in the Sandy F ire District, incorrectly identified ’* one of the jobs that Polivka has held. The story should have reported that one of the jobs he has held since high school graduation was at Williams Thriftway. 75 cents. Ellis in Portland. Irvin suffered an injury to the thumb on his right hand on May 19, ,T> 1984, when he was engaged in a scuf- -J. Police have charged a Sandy man with public indecency in connection with a telephone call to a woman. Robert Tate, 40, of 38325 S.E. U.S. H ig hw ay 26, was arrested by Gresham police in connection with a call to a Troutdale woman. Several women in Gresham turned in reports about similar calls. In the G resham incidents, a woman, or a man using a woman's tone of voice, would call the women, identify him or herself as an in vestigator and say the women could expect to get obscene telephone calls. The women then were asked by the person impersonating the woman in vestigator to meet the man so an a r rest could be made. Several women who were called agreed to meet the man. The women were not harmed physically. Irvin said in the trial that Troutdale patrolman David Oliver approached him from behind and grabbed his thumb, caus ing a longitudinal fracture. In the trial, Irvin asked for 850,000 in general damages from the city of Troutdale for pain and suffering and permanent loss of strength and mobility to his thumb. Irvin also sought lost wages in the amount of 87,492 and 825,000 in punitive damages.
