P hoto by Sandi P o u ta la 3 businesses keep baker cooking by HANK EMRICH There is no business in Sandy called "P rim e Time Donut Kingdom .’’ However, Dave Cary can be excused for inadvertent ly answering the phone at times with phrases that sound lik e such an establishment exists. Dave and his wife, Kris, own Prim e Tim e Video, Coun try Donut House, and the Kids Kingdom clothing store, all in Sandy. Prim e Time has been open for three years, Kids Kingdom has been open fo r three months, and The Country Donut House has been open just three weeks. Dave has a simple ex planation for his involve m ent in so m any businesses. “ My objective is to bring my checkbook balance up to zero,” he said. Country Donut House is the th ird restaurant in which Cary has been in volved. " I r e a lly w a n te d a doughnut house and not a restaurant, but here I am doing lunches again," said Cary. H is new r e s ta u r a n t features soups, salads and Queen’s Ball is added to Festival A new event has been ad ded to the Sandy Mountain F e s tiv a l th is y e a r. A Queen's Coronation Ball w ill be held Saturday, June 30 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Sandy Oddfellows Hall. Crowning ceremonies for the 1984 Sandy Mountain Festival F ifth Generation Court w ill be held. The court w ill include Queen L u c ille Ogden, S enior P rin c e s s e s E le a n o r Wagner and Bonnie F latt, and J u n io r P rincesses Sarah K rick and Shyla Phillips. Music for the event w ill be provided by Broadway *N' Jazz, a group of local musicians. Hors d ’oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks w ill be served Admission is $4 and tickets may be purchased in advance at The Hair Line, Pioneer Real Estate or Sandy City Hall. The Queen’s Court w ill be introduced Tuesday, June 26 at the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon meeting sandwiches in addition to doughnuts. Cary said the location of this restaurant is the best of the three he has operated and he is encouraged by early customer response. Cary enjoys talking with people, so there is another reason for his enthusiasm about the shop. “ I think I w ill like this because I get to spend more tim e out fro n t,” he said. K e e p in g th e th r e e businesses separate is not as hard as it m ight seem, according to Cary. “ I usually stop by the video store on the way home, but I don't do much else there. “ H aving good people there makes it a whole lot easier,” he said. K id s K in g d o m is p rim a rily run by his wife, Kris. “ I feel very good about the way my wife has put that together,” said Cary.
