In the 4-H senior horse showmanship contest Kim Swanson of Boring receiv ed a premier performer award Susan Murphy of Boring and Tracie Kuple of Eagle Creek received blue ribbons, In the commercial wines division the Big Eir Winery of Boring received a bronze aw a rd for its M ario n Blackberry sparkling wine In poultry competition. Bebe Paul of Boring had best of breed with mini lop rabbits In Future F arm er of A m e ric a c o m p e titio n , Tana Nonamaker of Sandy had the grand champion female in registered spot ted hogs She also had the grand and reserve cham pions in the junior female division, and the reserve champion in the mature female division In F FA sheep, Robin Johnson of Sandy had the breed champion in ram grade hampshires She had the reserve grand cham pion in dorset showman competition, and won a blue award in hampshire ram, and red awards in dorset ram and dorset ewe lamb Hal and D o lo res Vrooman, showing north co u n try ch eviots, had prem ier breeder, cham pion ewe, reserve cham pion ram , spring ram iamb, pair of ram lambs, pair of yearling ewes, spr ing ewe lamb, pair of ewe lambs, young flock and get- of-sire In addition, they won the Oregon State F air Special Award for Oregon bred and owned get-of-sire The V room a ns also had the columbias pair of yearl ing ewes In 4 H duroc classes, Ted Reynolds of Boring was reserve champion with his March May gilt In FFA beef cattle show ing, Knapp Angus of Sandy had the grand champion heifer, the early summer yearling heifer and the in t e r m e d ia te ch a m p io n heifer In the All Am erican H orse Show , T h o m a s Crown and Connie Tuor of Boring, representing Ris ing Star Stables, won the Green Working Hunters open class and under sad dle class. Cotillions Beau and Wendy Sanetel, both of Boring, won the $500 Trail H orses C h a m p io n s h ip Stake Oregon 4 H members currently have about 100 puppies in their homes, dogs that are being trained for Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc Among those returning a puppy to California for final training was Kathy Beckman of Sandy. Angie Conibear of Boring was one of two champions in the third and final 4-H mini meal contest Conibear topped the in termediate class with her e ffo rt in p re p a rin g a cheesy m e a tlo a f. She received a special award fro m the O reg o n Cow Belles Conibear also received a blue ribbon in the 4-H food preparation contest. In addition, Conibear was among those receiving special awards from the Oregon Sheep Growers Auxiliary for outstanding wool garments Clackamas County 4-H members swept the top places in the dairy cattle ju d g in g c o n te s t. A m i Aschoff of Boring took c h a m p io n in d iv id u a l honors in the senior con test. Lori Aschoff of Boring was one of the top in dividuals in intermediate competition. Theresa Reynolds of B o rin g and M ik e McMahon of Sandy were among the members of the s e n io r te a m fro m Clackamas County, which finished first Oregon 4-H members gave a number of présenta tions on a variety of topics Barbie Hayball of Boring received a blue award for her presentation in the in t e r m e d ia te in d iv id u a l class Knstine McMahon and Misty Weitzel of Sandy were on an intermediate team that won a blue award Receiving a blue award in the beef showmanship classes were Carolyn H ar ding of Eagle Creek, in the interm ediate class, and Jack Layton of Sandy in the senior class. In the 4-H sheep show, Trevor Storlie of Boring received blue awards in p ro d u c in g ew e (crossbred), and carcass lamb Showing in the 4-H sim m enlal class at the 1962 Oregon State F a ir in Salem is Jack Layton of Sandy. The eight-year 4-H m em ber has raised several m arket steers and has used the proceeds to purchase other anim als for his beef herd. Giles Fuel Co. Summer Special Cycle mishap results in injury Two persons were in jured Labor Day night when the 1966 H a rle y Davidson motorcycle they were riding crashed into a traffic sign at Highway 26 and Sleepy Hollow Drive. The driver, Frederick Douglas Jones, 34, of Kelso, Wash , was seriously in jured in the crash. An u n id e n tifie d fe m a le passenger riding on the back of the motorcycle suf fered only a scratched knee, a c c o rd in g to Hoodland Fire Chief Don Armintrout.
