The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Clayton Rice and the Rev Ono The bride, escorted to the alter by her father, wore a gown of Chantilly lace and a veil made by the groom’s mother Attending the bride a? maid of honor was her cousin, Annette Vehara of H o n o lu lu , H a w a ii. Bridesmaids included the bride’s sisters Joanne and L o r ra in e T om e of Honolulu, Joy Claggett, sister of the groom and Erin Shtmabuku, also of Honolulu Mindy Claggett and Kiratin Bates, nieces of the groom , served as flower girls Best man was Brad Bleything, a friend of the groom from Milwaukie. Ushering the guests were Jim Bates and Mike fla g gett, brothers of the groom fro m P o rtla n d , M a rk G re a b y and L yn n Teuscher, also of Portland, Tim Nolan of Beaverton, and Scott M ag u ire of Gresham The bride, daughter of Jack and Elsie Tome of Honolulu, attended the University of Hawaii and the University of Portland school of nursing. She received her bachelor’s degree in 1982 The groom, a Sandy den- tiat, is the son of Frank and A u d rey B a te s . He graduated from Reynolds High School, Lewis and Clark College in 1976 and the University of Oregon dental school in 1980, The reception following the wedding was held at the G a te w a y E lk s Lodge Assisting at the reception were Mary Nolan and Con nie Maguire After a wedding trip to F iji and Hawaii, the couple was feted with a second reception in Hawaii They a re now a t home in Portland Joseph K autz is welcom ed M r and Mrs Tim Kautz of Portland recently an nounced the birth of a son, Joseph Wayne He was bom June 1 at 7:17 p.m. at the University of Oregon Medical Center in Portland He weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces ard waa 19 inches long He joins a sister.
