• SANO* (Ore ) POST Thur» April 8 1982 (Se< I) Sweet Home proven no match for Pioneers A number of personal records were set last week at Sweet Home in the rain and sleet, with the Sandy boys winning 82 63 and the girls winning 76-51 Sam R om ey set a sophomore record in the 3<MMLmeter run, winning in »18 8 He also won the 1500. with a 4 16 73 Phil Burks finished se cond in the 1500, in 4 34 7, giving Sandy a one two punch there Russell Fork turned in a personal best, winning the 400-meter run with a time of 53 3 B ill Bowman set a per so n a l re c o rd in the 110-meter high hurdles, finishing second with a time of 18 6 Steve Metelak won the 800 with a time of 2:05 5. Steve Brader won the 300 m eter in te rm e d ia te hurdles with a time of 44 27 Roland Aumueller turn ed in "ju st an outstanding performance," winning the shot put with a 47-7 and a half toss That's a seven foot improvement over last year The Pioneers made a clean sweep in the discus, with Mike Marleau winn ing. and Locke Christman and Steve Pettingill taking second and third, respec lively Brader. Ryan Coombs and Steve Ackerman swept the 100, with Brader winn ing in 12 2. The Pioneers also won the 1600 and 400 meter relays Fork. Doug Baucom. Metelak and Ackerman comprised the 1600. while Coombs. Tyson Cummings, Brader and Fork compris ed the 400-meter relay All in all. the boys won 10 of 17 events. For the girls. Sharon Jensen is starting to get in shape for track, according to Hutchinson.
