2 » m i t e . il S tir o li Senior Center News: Firefighters keep busy as blaze damages roof Center maps excursion to festival automobile accidents There were also six first aid calls, one smell of smoke, one public assist and two mutual aid calls with Boring Eire District Through Eebruary, the Sandy Fire District was aliead of its 1961 pace with 26 more emergency calls, This year, the district has responded to 32 fires, 10 public assistances, seven false alarms. 81 emergency medical calls and 13 mutual aids with adjoining fire districts A defective chimney above a wood stove started a blaze which damaged the roof on a Sandy home early last Sun day afternoon. Sandy Eire Marshal Jim Gallagher said 26 firefighters responded to a 1:14 p rn alarm at the Dan York residence. 41151 SE Vista Loop Drive, only to find fire already burning through the roof when they arrived Smoke had been visible from the in tersection of Highway 26 and Langen- sand Road, he noted. He said the firefighters, using three engines and two tankers, had the flames under control within 15 minutes Gallagher said the fire began in an at tic directly above a wood stove and caused >8.000 to >10,000 damage to the house and its contents.
