But what happens when the real Don grows up, leaves home to rent an apartment of New York Ci ty ’s lower West Side and m eets th e a p p e a lin g , energetic g irl next door creates the action in the comedy There is quite enough ac tion for the over protective M rs B a k e r—love and adventure for Don and J ill, the g irl next door, and com edy to delight any au dience Though rehearsals have been held in the crisp a ir of the theater, the cast is prepared to bring the Mt Hood-Portland area an evening of warmth and laughter, Don is played by Sandy Union High School drama teacher Mark Kuntz A graduate in drama from th e U n iv e r s ity of W a s h in g to n , he has “ always wanted to play scenes in previous SCP pro ductions As a c h ild , S tafford travelled with her parents who were actors in the Chautauqua c irc u it and many little theater groups She “ loves to ear and tap dance, an unfortunate com bination." Suzanne Jones plays the girlfriend, Jill, the role w h ich b ro u g h t G o ldie Hawn movie fame Jones and J ill share a common d re a m —acting This is Jones' first major role, however, she was a lead dancer in the SUHS production of “ West Side S tory" last fall She plans to go to San Francisco A rt Institute and “ donations w illin g ly accepted,” she said The final complement to the cast is J R Knotts as Ralph Austin, a director A Sandy resident, Knotts is Mark Kuntz this role." He last appeared at the Portland Civic Theater as Leo in “ R o m a n tic Comedy " Pauline Stafford plays F lo re n c e P ik e r T h is marks her first appearance on the stage, although she has spent hours behind the an experienced actor He was nominated for a Best Supporting A cto r “ W illies” Award for his role as Will Masters in “ Bus Stop'' in 1961.
