Knapp, and original hoard members Harold Kdes and Kichard Messeiink of the Oral Hull Foundation for the
Blind gathered last week to plant a time capsule next to a new dormitory at the park.
Oral Hull construction begins
by DAN DILLON
When Oral and Albert Hull
donated 22 acres near Sandy for
use by the blind some 2« years ago,
there was little at the site beyond
an old farmhouse
N e x t s p rin g when a new
5.000-square-foot dorm itory is
completed, members of the Oral
Hull Foundation for the Blind ex
pect to have something very
special.
“ It will be one of the besi recrea

Evangeline Philbin, an early
benefactor of the foundation—will
provide housing for 4« guests and
include a 784-square-foot recrea
tion room to complement the other
atractions already offered at Oral
Hull Park
The Rainbow Lodge, dedicated
in 1975 by then Gov. Bob Straub,
houses a large dining area, a kit
chen and library with books
printed in B raille. A lounge
features a large stone fireplace, an
organ and a piano
A picnic shelter was dedicated in

The park is being developed to
offer recreational opportunities for
blind persons of all ages
