The annual contest is spun sored by Associated Oregon Industries who w ill name a state winner w ithin a month The Sandy shop ow ner was nominated form ally by San dy A rea M e rc h a n ts , a chamber committee he once chaired before becoming chamber vice president this year His original nomina tion, however, came in the form of a letter to the editor in the May 28 Sandy Post "D ear Diogenes," wrote Charles B Anderson of Bor mg "Sound the trumpets, ring the bells and blow out your lantern, old man I have found him at last an honest man He runs a s m a ll business in Sandy called Ferguson’s Power Equip men! lake the man said, he stands behind what he sells If there is a business man of the year award' in Sandy, would like to nominate him " Jones left a 15-year career in insurance throughout Iowa, Wisconsin. California and Oregon to enter the saw shop business in partnership with Jack Ferguson here in 1975 He bought out his partner in 1977 The shop now carries a full line of lawn and garden power equipment and chain saws. In addition to chamber of commerce and SAM offices.
