In particular, the founda tion funds the Oregon Lions Eye Bank at Good S a m a rita n H o s p ita l in Portland The foundation also supports patient care, eye research, equipment purchase and construction projects at Devers Memorial Clinic at the hospital. Locally, funds from the White Cane Drive are used by Lions clubs to provide free eye exams to the needy and to supply them with glasses when re q u ire d . Local Lions also refer scores of patients each year to Devers C linic for com plicated surgery involving detached retinas, treatment fo r d ia b e te s -re la te d i diseases, re m o v a l of c a ta ra c ts , co rn e a l I transplants and eye muscle I defects I lhe Oregon Lions Sight I and Hearing Foundation I conducts other projects for the blind or visually im- j paired It sponsors an annual I retreat on the McKenzie I River for blind Oregonians who attend the summer camp for two weeks. The Southern Oregon Lions Blind I Center also receives funds I from the foundation as does i the Oregon Council for the Blind through grants in aid I program.
