Volunteers and donated
materials come together this
week to rebuild Sandy’s out
door Birdcage Theater in
Meinig Park.
I t ’s a major reconstruction
job from the ground up. after
vandalism and rot prompted
city crews to burn down the
smaller original platform.

Sandy Grade School
plans golden jubilee
Five decades have passed
since the Sandy Grade
School building was con
s tru c te d in 1931. The
students, teachers, parents
and staff at the school are
not going to let the historical
event pass without a special
golden birthday party
Plans are already under
way for the special occasion
which is planned for Oct 8,
1981 Students from the San
dy Elementary Research
Class are researching im
portant events from each
decade Even the rise and
fall of the hemline over those
50 years is noteworthy.
The class w ill report its
findings to the classes at
Sandy Grade School who, in
turn, will plan activities and
demonstrations to represent
those events
