« SANDY (O r* ) POST Thur».. A pril 16 I »81 ($•< 2) magical Jim m y Stewart was plagued by a large white rabbit in a movie by the name of ‘ Harvey " This monstrous bun- nv was a pucka, a superior sp irit which advocates good works and is visible only to M r Stewart, Unable to perform good deeds themselves, the pucka had to depend on a m ortal to carry out its wishes, putting Mi Stewart's movie character into considerable hot water, A ll white rabbits are not puckas and all puckas are not necessarily white rabbits, but the rabbit image seems to be most popular among puckas When you think about it, every g<xxl magician has had his own pucka — some were doves, but most were rabbits the magician pulled from his hat The grand pucka of them all has to be the Easter Bun ny Children have various ideas on just what the Easter Bunny looks like Some envision him as a combination rabbit and kangeroo, for the added jum ping power and the pocket to put baskets in Others think he has very long arms and looks like a lovable, long eared Sasquatch His height averages bet- the devil Apparently the reason the bunny’s nose twitches is to tell him when the candy is the right temperature to mold The most im portant part of this magical pucka, however, is his tail. Children say his ta il is shaped like a powder puff to dust his tracks away Odinole' i L ittle thought is given to where he lives during the greater part of the year or how he manages to round up so many eggs One pre-school theory is that the elves from the North Pole are on spring vacation around Easter and since they paint toys for Santa, they pro bably paint the eggs for Peter and pieces Another popular explanation is that if brown chickens lay brown eggs and white chickens lay white eggs, then the chickens that lay Easter eggs must be rainbow colored A great deal of importance is placed on one's personal appearance at the spring holiday Easter parades, fashion shows, the trip to church and the fam ily dinner have all become places to show off spring a ttire The general public becomes on gigantic butterfly, emerging ween four and six fe e t, anything over 6-feet tall would be too scary and anything under 4-feet would be too weak The Easter Bunny has long ears that act like radar, enabling him to detect exactly where the good children are living His eyes are brown, not red, and filled with love Anything 6 feet tall with red eyes would look like SUPER C O U P O N THRIFTWAY’S W E S T E R N F A M IL Y from its cacoon of w inter drabness So much emphasis is put on dress that children who generally ta re less how the look want to become part of the festivities, at least, for a little while Soon the stiff skirt starts to itch and the leotards start to dig into the soft tummies The bow ties begin to choke and the suit jacket gets too hot Children w orry more about the appearance of the Easter Bunny than themselves Thev can come up with some puzzling questions How can he handle all those chocolate rabbits and stay so white? Why don't je lly beans stick to his h a ir'’ How can he travel so fa r and not get mud or dirt on his feet’’ If he breaks an egg, does he give it to somebody that wasn't nice9 How come he doesn't shed like all the other animals do in the spring9 Is the Easter Bunny housebroken? Well, some questions never get answered Neither rain, no snow, nor sleet nor shine can k w p him from his appointed rounds The Easter Bunny is on his way today PARADE OF • ENGLISH • SOURDOUGH BONELESS TOP S IR LO IN FIRST S IX P A C K STEAK FAMILY WITH THIS COUPON A N D PURCHASE OF $10.00 OR MORE A D D L.
