This climaxed an evening for the Missionettes and Royal Rangers of the Sandy Assembly of God Church at their annual award dinner The two groups are special p ro g ra m s of Sandy Assembly of God for boys and girls, ranging in age from three to 12 years The April 15 deadline for filing state and federal tax re tu rn s is ra p id ly a p proaching. I i I " J A 1 However, Oregonians who do not have a tax liability can obtain an automatic 60-day filing extension simp ly by submitting a special form to the Internal Revenue Service. The form, IRS Form 486«, “ Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U S. Individual Income Tax Return.” grants an addi tional 60 days in which to file the return However. IRS stresses that this is not an extension of time for payment of taxes due Those persons who ex pect to owe a tax must com pute the expected balance due and send that amount with the form to avoid in terest and late payment penalties On the other hand, those Skip Walker takes a pi«1 Rangers awards dinner taxpayers who do not expect to owe additional tax or w ho are entitled to refunds, are not required to make any payment with the extension application The extension is still required as a matter of law. As the deadline for filing approaches, all IRS offices throughout Oregon w ill be open to provide assistance to taxpayers preparing their federal income tax returns, particularly next Wednes day, April 15.
