the cost of the equipment
The maximum credit was
formerly 10 percent of the
cost.
Due to a change in the law,
the new 15 percent credit is
available for the purchase
and installation of solar,
wind and geothermal equip
ment to generate or convert
energy for use in a business
A new 11 percent credit is
available for small-scale
hydroelectric facilities, and
a 10 percent cre d it is
available for many other
energy devices used in a
business, some of which
have been added by the new
legislation.
The amount of the credit
depends on both the type of
the equipment and the length
of its useful life for deprecia
tion purposes.
The tax credit offsets the
taxpayer’s regular income
tax, and may result in a re
fund of any tax paid in, with
any excess credit available
to carry over to another
year. If the property is no
longer in use before the end

orders for customized items
