Kathy Abbott, Brenda Tin- jum and Lisa Marshall w ill be on hand at checkpoints and Gail Rischman and Bet sy Rischman w ill be in charge of refreshments. A volunteer is s till needed to collect pledges and ta lly them to determine prize w in ners. “ Our com m ittee people are giving their tim e and talent to help in the fight against cancer and other c a ta s tr o p h ic c h ild h o o d diseases,” said Anita Tin- jum , chairm an of the event. “ With volunteers like these, our ride has got to be a suc cess.” Kids of all ages are invited to attend the bike-a-thon and prizes w ill be awarded, with a 10-speed bicycle going to the top rider “ The local TV stations have been notified and we hope at least one news crew w ill be on hand to cover the event," T im jum said. March 9 He was 38 Born in Broken Bow, Neb., he was raised in Thedford. Neb. A fter receiving his bachelor’s degree in elemen ta ry education at Chadron State Teachers College in N ebraska, he moved to Oregon where he began his 1 4 -ye a r c a re e r in th e Portland School System W h ile te a c h in g in Portland, he continued his own education at Lewis and Clark College He moved to Sandy in 1979 and was forced to re tire the following year for health reasons He is survived by his parents.
