Transportation to the lunch can be arranged by calling the Senior Center at 622-3331. The Mt. Hood Pre-School Co-op w ill hold its monthly parents meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Women’s Club. The non-profit co-op has compiled a cookbook w ith recipes supplied by local area residents. The cookbooks are available at various Hoodland stores or by calling 6224261. The ‘ ‘Mountain Music Society” w ill meet this evening at 7:30 p.m. to discuss plans for a program to include Eastern Music and Belly Dancing Call chair person W ill Frank. 622-3130, for location of meeting and further information. Tuesday,Jan. 20 The monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting nor m ally held today has been postponed because of the Presidential Inauguration. The Chamber has rescheduled its regular monthly meeting for 7 a.m. next Tuesday. Jan. 27, at the Ked Lion Inn at Bowman's. Wednesday. Jan. 21 Welches Community School “ Finy-Tots” group w ill meet from 10 a.m. to noon. Call Connie Westly, 622-3073, for information and meeting location A free blood pressure clinic w ill be held today from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Senior Center in the Hoodland Women’s Club building on Salmon River Road. This clinic is open to all adults. Call Maxine Worley at the Senior Center, 622-3331, for further in formation or transportation. The Clackamas County Library Bookmobile w ill be at the Mt. Hood Food King Clackamas County also sponsors a free Clackamas County Children’s Dental Clinic in Oregon City at the Clackamas County Health Division offices. Thursday, Jan. 22 The Clackamas County “ Well-Baby C linic” and “ W1C” programs w ill be held starting at 9 :30 a.m. today at the Hoodland Women’s Club on Salmon R iver Road. The county ja il has a higher percentage of felons than at any time in its past, he said, ‘We’re seeing a tougher type of crim in a l.” O’Leary said his office may have to begin “ p rio ritizin g " the growing number of cases it receives, which could mean that major fraud cases (which take lots of time for the least benefit) and victimless crim e cases could end up not being prosecuted. I 'l l be the first to adm it it.” From the other side of the crim inal justice department, D istrict Attorney Jim O'Leary told commissioners that the recessionary economy and over crowded conditions at the county ja il are working together to produce a higher crim e rate, bringing greater demands upon his office. Because of overcrowding, convicted crim uials with lesser offenses are being released form the ja il “ sometimes w ithin 60 to 90 days," said O’Leary, and many end up back at the ja il for repeat offenses. Misdemeanor cases prosecuted by his office increased 23 percent during 1980, down from an increase of 46 percent in 1979, he said. Felony cases, however, increased by 28 percent in clinics are run by pediatric nurse-practioners. Although there is a m inim um fee, services are not denied because of an inability to pay.
