( hu ken continues to be one of our best meat buys. The
following two recipes are good ways to prepare and serve
it
Breakfast bonanza cookies
2-3rds cup butter or margarine
1 n ip sugar
1 egg
Tasty chicken
Cut up 24 lb chicken and arrange in a 12 x 8 x 2 inch
dish, placing thickest pieces at outside edges In a small
bowl stir in * i cup salad dressing or mayonnaise, a pkg. of
<tr\ pmon soup mix. 4 cup French dressing, and a cup of
strawberry or cherry preserves. Coat chicken on all sides
with this mixture Cover with aluminum foil and cook at
:t25-:t5C degrees for one hour, or cover with waxed paper
and microwave at high for 18-22 minutes, rotating dish a
half turn after 10 minutes le t stand up to 10 minutes
before serving
This is good served with white and wild rice Serves 4. —

1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
• ? teaspoon soda
’ ;■ teaspoon salt
3 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
1 cup 14 ozs. i shredded Cheddar cheese
fi bacon slices, crisply cooked and crumbled
* i cup wheat germ
Beat together butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Add
combined flour, soda and salt to butter mixture; mix well.
Stir in oats, cheese, bacon and wheat germ. Drop by
rounded tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet Bake at
350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned
Makes three dozen cookies

Chicken casserole
H chicken breasts, stewed, boned and chopped
1 hox oblong butter-type crackers
1 can (Team of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 n ip sour cream
Blueberry torte cake
1 pkg. lemon cake mix or yellow, bake in 2 9 inch pans.
Cool on wire racks. Slice each layer in half to make 4
layers. Spread blueberry filling between layers and on

F illin g : 4 cup cornstarch. 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water. 6 cups
blueberries fresh or frozen. 1 tsp. almond extract.
Mix cornstarch and sugar in large sauce pan Stir in
water and blueberries. Cook over low heat, stirring, until
mixture thickens and bubbles. Remove from heat, stir in
almond extract Cool before using on cake. Good wth

margarine with crumbled crackers Press half of mixture
into large casserole dish to make crust. < ombine soups,
sour (Team, chicken and water chestnuts. Pour into dish.
Top w ith other part of crumbs and bake in 350 degree oven
