Future Fanners of Amenca -FFA» and Open Class categories Sandy and Boring area youths cleaned up on 4-H ribbons and awards with Chris Burks leading the way by takin g the o verall championship in leathercraft at the fair. A recent graduate of Sandy Union High School. Burks will take her exhibit to the Oregon State Fair. Also taking her leather- craft exhibit to the state fair will be Teresa Sbokey of Boring Patty Seymour of Boring won a blue ribbon in the leathercraft event Locals did well in the Dairy Goat Showmanship 4-H category Julie Fetters of Sandy led the local young people in honors as she was named the cham pion in the Ju n io r Showmanship division Jennifer Fetters. Patty Danielson and Charise Nelson, all of Sandy, earned Blue Awards in the same category. Jennifer Skelton of Sandy is the Reserve Champion in the Senior Showmanship division. A Red Award in the same division went to Nicole McKenzie of Sandy while Rance Danielson of Sandy took home a White Award. A Rhododendron youth, M ike Northrup, was Senior Cham pion in the 4-H W oodworking division. Several local 4-Hers fared well in the M arket Steer com petition w ith C a rrie O pperm an, M a tt H ow ard and M ike McMahon, all of A rummage sale will be held by the Hoodland Women's Club on Labor Day. Floral gardens to be featured at state fair The Oregon State F air Flo ral Gardens are being planted, pam pered and groomed as opening day for the 1980 fair moves closer. Most garden spaces have been reserved, but some space still is available.” according to Pat Moran, superintendent of the Floral Gardens. ‘Space is available in the Floral Building for those wishing to display arrangements, potted plants, cut flow ers, bonsai or hanging baskets.” M o ran said. In Dom estic Science, Renee Greco of B oring earned two firs t places and Darla Ramfo of Boring took one first place. Mo Cho of Boring won two second places in Textiles while Jeanine M. Johnson of Sandy took a second in the H oodland sam e division. In the Open Class rabbits division Joseph A. Schallberger of Boring took one fourth and one fifth place; Bebe Paul of Bonng earned two firsts , three seconds, one th ird , one fourth, one fifth.
