Lundy said A program was written and submitted by three staff members This was rewarded with a $2.000 grant from the state This extra money has provided for one student's transportation expenses to attend a Spanish class at Sandy High School, has paid for chartered mini buses for students taking field trips and w ill help pay for a videotape system for the PEP program Special funds in the budget include a remedial reading program which is partially funded through a federal program and a debt service for bonds paying for the school's two buildings The payments on the West Building retire with the current budget Along w ith the levy proposal which Lundy estimates w ill require $10 32 per $1,000 assessed valuation with a 10 percent increase in county valuations, voters w ill elect a new member to the d is tric t's board of directors Don Gould, a member of the d is tric t's budget com m ittee, is the only candidate filed for position 3. That position is currently held by Chairman Wayne Johnson, wh did not file for re-election Voters may cast their ballots at Cottrell School between the hours of 8 a m and 8 p m agreed to contracts One teaching position is being eliminated for the upcoming school year due to the anticipated placement of students in the school The petition being eliminated is for the seventh grade where only 21 students w ill he enrolled One additional teacher's salary is annually included in the budget as a precautionary measure In the event any one of the classes requires an additional teacher, funds w ill be available The base salary on the certified schedule increased 6 79 percent and the fringe benefits increased 14 28 percent Lundy said Cottrell w ill continue providing a half time learning specialist to direct the handicapped e d u c a tio n a l p ro g r a m initiated in 1977 78 During the past school year.
