Thur» . July I J, 1978 ($«c. 2) SAND* (Or«.) POST Film brings Bigfoot legend to life A legend came to life this week. For a few brief days, the question of whether or not a Bigfoot type ot creature exists seemed to have been’ answered. As many as five of the legendary creatures have been sighted in the Mt. Hood National Forest between Tim berline Lodge and the Hood River Inn. The Hood River Inn9 No, Bigfoot isn’t carrying a Master Charge card these days, but the Hood River Inn was the headquarters for a crew film ing a movie entitled “ Myths and Monsters.” The adventure-docum entary con cerns tales of relichominids, a genus category which includes Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, the abominadable Snowman and other sim ilar creatures of folk lore. The film , authorized by Alan Land- sburg Productions of Beverlv Hills, attempts to despel common misbeliefs many people have about Bigfoot. And w hile many people have mistaken the five hairy humans for Bigfoot, the actors certainly knew the difference. After 5-7 hours in the make up chair donning their costumes, they probably would have preferred the real creatures to stand in. A little paint here, a few fangs there and the makeup began to take shape. A mold provided the facial features, and though the hair was applied by tufts, it must have seemed like individual strands to the impatient actors. The end result though was startling, with the shocked faces of onlookers an adequate measure. But after a few days, the crew w ill be gone, the furor w ill die down and the Hood River Inn w ill return to normal. And the legend of Bigfoot w ill live on. A C T IO N ! BIGFOOT LIVES in the minds of some and on film for others. "Myths and M onsters," an Alan Landsburg Production, is being filmed around the world. The crew has been in the Mt. Hood area recently working on a Bigfoot sequence for the film. The movie documents folk lore and actual sightings of Bigfoot and his relatives such as the Yeti, Sasquatch and the Abominidable Snowman.
