Drivers with even-numbered birthdates—such as the second, fourth, sixth, twentieth of each month — w ill be urged to renew licenses by mail, just as they probably have in the past Their non-photo licenses w ill be mailed from Salem and w ill be valid for two years. If a driver with an even-numbered birth date wants a photo license he w ill have to bring his renewal notice to a DMV office and request a photo license These licenses w ill be valid only two years and drivers w ill pay $5. The four-year con version schedule w ill allow the division to stagger the workload and by July 1980, approximately one-fourth of the state's 1.5 million drivers w ill be renewing each year.
