Salem and McMinnville with adequate help, but no housing The D alles a re a cherry growers expect to be short 400 pickers by June 18 and Hood River expects to be short 50 pickers by June 20 There is limited housing in both areas Grants Pass cherry harvest start has been delayed to June 22 and Hillsboro harvest is to start June 25. T he g irls m ade a ll the preparations for their trip, including meal planning and grocery shopping. While at camp the girls stayed at Sunny Lodge, cooking all of their meals outside One dinner was a delicious roast the girls had wrapped in tin foil, put in wet gunny sacks and cooked in a pit The girls also went hiking and enjoyed daily swims in the pool The second night the girls participated in their group cerem o n ial where they received th e ir F ire M a k e r Rank, honor beads and other awards earned during the year This was the 6th grade girls' final ceremonial as Camp F ire Girls. Next year they will be in Discovery Club, the Camp F ire Girls program for junior high school girls The awards were presented to the girls by their group guardian.
