SANDY, OREGON. THURSDAY, JUNE 14. 1973 Another 'Review' Committee ? Work on the Clackamas County comprehensive plan will begin again with the aid of nine citizen volunteers. This is the word from the Clackamas County Planning Commission this week The commission is seeking nine individuals to help revise or rewrite sections of the county's plan which has been in the works for over four years. The county w ill select these nine persons from a list of 25 individuals who indicated their interest to work on the controversial land-use plan. The names of the citizens are ex pected to be announced later this week. According to a spokesman for the county planners, problem areas which were suggested at recent hearings on the plan have been worked out into nine sections. At a future meeting, these nine individuals w ill be brought together to work as a committee and w ill be presented with Waiting For Guidelines The city of Sandy w ill not consider any future annexations until the city ’s comprehensive plan is completed. This plan is scheduled to be com pleted late this summer. The council took this stand Monday night to avoid annexation questions until the plan is completed and the city is better able to handle questions about supplying water and sewers. This combines with the already stated council policy of not discussing the extension of the city’s sewer line outside the city for hookups. Together, these two policy statements mean the city w ill only grow inside the present city lim its until the plan is completed. Before voting on the policy statement Monday night, several councilmen expressed concern over the anticipated shortage of water for On the Rock The Post carried a story this week about the Sandy Centennial and Barlow Road Days steering com mittee's search for a rock to mount the Centennial plaque. It is a shame it has taken the committee well into the sixth month of the Centennial year to suddenly decide the present rock is too small. the task of working on these problem areas. Supposedly, this new committee will also be able to suggest other sections of the plan which they think might be in need of revision. It will be interesting to see how this new "com m ittee” w ill meet the problems in this plan. Especially since the plan has met almost total disapproval from county residents at these recent hearings. We also hope, the county planners do a better job selecting a “ working committee" than the county com missioners did in selecting the review committee which is still investigating charges against the planners and their director James Hall. This review committee is now- heading into its seventh month without any sign of concluding the investigation or making any recommendations. How long w ill this new planning committee have? Neil Jackson, local representative for Portland General Electric in Sandy, told the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce the shortage of electricity is for real. " P G E ’s contract runs out with the Bonneville Power Administration on Sept 1 and we at present have no new power sources to cover this loss,’' said Jackson.
