Feb 5, ac cording to John M e llo tt, Multnomah County Extension Agent, 4-H and Youth Development 4-H members, leaders and friends in M u ltn o m a h , Clackamas. Washington and Columbia Counties are invited to take part in this study of the basic nutritional requirements of poultry. Mellott noted There will be a session on the in terpretation of feed bag labels as well as an opportunity to study the chick embryo in various stages of d evelo p ment, Mellott added Several microscopes will be available for use in the embryo study for even the most inquisitive eye, according to Mellott. "Agencies funded by this subcom m ittee include the Office of Management and Budget, the Executive (Xfice of the President, the White House s ta ff and the O ffic e of Telecommunication Policy." Hatfield said He retains his position as the ranking Republican on the Public Works Appropnat ions subcom m ittee as w ell as subcom m ittees on In te rio r- Forest Service, Agnculture Consumer-Environmental P ro tection and Foreign Operations He will continue to serve as the number two Republican on the Public Lands and Parks & Recreation subcommittees of Interior Hatfield was also named to a subcommittee of the Rules committee which deals with c o m p u t e r iz a t io n and mechanization of Congress Legislative Reports for over a year and a hail. Again, I would like to point out the importance of this measure to our area P ie Equal Rights Amend ment to the U.S. Constitution has again attracted a large public reaction at a hearing this week by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Another bill introduced in the Senate is aimed at slowing the soaring coats of hospital care The bill requires hospitals and other health care institutions to gain approval from a state agency before ra is in g its p rices This would m ake hospitals justify the need for an increase in fees charged by them. Although 1 deplore the rising hospital costs I am questioning the ability of a state agency in this field The topic of "conflict of in terest’’ for members of the legislature has been discussed by various editors of newspapers.
