the Pioneers Turin also had

several dropped by Sandy

drive of the Pioneers.

In the game against New bert,
the Pioneers had three scoring
drives stopped either by a
penalty or an ir'ercepted pass
in the second haif
The team was unable to get
untracked offensively in the
first half and were unable to
move outside of their own 40
yard line
Meanwhile. Newberg behind
the running of their backs
moved to a 14-0 halftime lead
The Pioneer defensen played a
tougher second half allowing
only one TD alte in the final
period

will travel to Newberg today
for a game that starts at 5 p.m
The team lost to Dallas last
week 40-6
Meanwhile the Pioneer frosh
team, will host their first game
of the season at 5 p.m. today
with Newberg
In the loss to Dallas, the only
Sandy points were scored by
halfback Dubbie Hayes on a
run
The JV coaches were not too
pleased with the team's per
formance in this game
"W e have made some per
sonnel changes and the team
spirit is up for the game with
Newberg." said JV coach Steve

Guthu said the Pioneers fell
apart in the second half after
being down only 14-6 at half
time

team will be in action three
times this week On Friday
they run at an invitational meet
at Blue Lake, Monday at 4 p m
they will entertain the spikers
from Sweet Home, and on
Friday, Sept 28. they will
entertain Mollala here

work done to help the flood control
problems, according to the county. The
work was done by the Army Corp of

Engineers. In doing the work on the river,
land above the water was added to several
pieces of property and one channel of the
river was covered.
