Frosh track get second,
weather delays games
Hain has delayed mosl of the
baseball, g o lf and tennis
matches this spring at Sandy
high school.
The varsity baseball team
was unable to play any of its
three games this past week nd
now w ill be forced to play every
day that the weather allows to
hopefully get their full season
played.

meet was the frosh track team
They finished with 62 points in a
three way meet with Molalla
and Estacada
Molalla won the meet with 70
points and Estacada had 36
The meet was held at Sandy
Monday afternoon
Getting first places for Sandy
were Carl Kalama in the m ile;
Carl Neuenfeldt in the 880 yard
run; and Doug Buhler in the
two m ile run
Kalama also got a second in
the 880 and Buhler took second
in the mile run with Neuenfeldt
getting third in the mile to give
the young Pioneers a sweep of
that event.
Other top finishers for Sandy
were: Adamson 2nd in 440.
Davenport 3rd in low hurdles,
Opperman 3rd in 220; Marsh
3rd in 880, Davenport and
Zimmerman tied for 2nd in high
jum p, Covey 2nd in long jum p;
Richards 2nd in discus; Boyko
2nd in javelin; Marsh 2nd in
two m ile; and Tim m third in
two mile

A lean redhead, Greg Wiley,
led the strong Cascade Ski
Club’s Mt Hood Racing Team
to a near-sweep of first places
in the annual running of the
Trollhaugen Ski Shop’s Giant
Slalom Championships in the
Ski Bowl at Government Camp
Wiley was closed through a
20 gate course in 40 9 seconds,
finishing a full second in front
of teammate B ill Polits,

runnerup in the 10-to-12 year
division

The lone break in Cascade's
dominance of the top finishes
came in the g irls six-to-nine
with Lisa Norman of Meadows
Ski Club first in 51 8 seconds,
two full seconds ahead of B ritt-
marie Pearson of Government
Camp and Meadows.
Nearly 100 racers took part in
the competition with the top
runner. Wiley, having his name
engraved on a large permanent
trophy.
In a unique “ turnabout",
members of the Mt Hood
Racing Team's junior ranks,
led by Lee Englesby, Sandy
high senior and son of
Trollhaugen operators Joe and
Mary Ellen Englesby, set the
race course and handled nearly
all of the details in the race for
members of the Mitey Mite
ranks.

220, fourth in the 100-yd. dash
and also running a leg of the
quarter mile relay

needed," said H arris Tuesday,
“ They were somewhat unsure
of themselves before we en
tered the meet, but did an
outstanding jo b ."

Education and PSU at Mon

H arris said “ Things could be
tougher this time .
we don't
have those other teams sp lit
ting up the first few places."
