Sandy 668-4101 Gresham 663-4522 «MRMSmMRJI (Post photo) Motorists Warned by Sheriff Of Carbon Monoxide Dangers One of the greatest dangers during the coming cold weather season will be drowsiness due to carbon monoxide poisoning, Clackamas County drivers were warned today by Sheriff Shobe. "Carbon Monoxide is an oderless , colorless poison gas capable of producing uncon sciousness of possibly death when present in even low con centration,” Sheriff Shoe de clared. "If you sta rt your car in the garage, be sure you have pre- visouly opened the garage doors,” he recommended. "If you car has faulty muf fler, a leaky manifold or bad exhaust pipe, don’t postpone having corrective action taken,” he warned. The Sheriff further warned that it’s dangerous for oc cupants of an auto that is parked, with the engine runing, to r e main in the vehicle for extended periods. Carbon monoxide may be slowly seeping into the driver passenger compartments. "Even a litUefresh air,com ing in through a slightly-opened window, will do much to combat the danger of carbon monoxide, in a Sationary vehicle with the engine running, or in a moving vehicle,” Sheriff » o b e con cluded. Church Approves Record Budget Seventh-day Adventists have approved a record 46.9 million dollar budget for 1969, largest in the church’s history, V.J. Jester revealed today. Jester is treasu rer of the denomina tion’s western Oregon con ference. Passing the 1968 budget by 2.2 million, the amount does not include funds received and used by the various subdivisions of the church. Nor does it include disaster and famine relief funds which totaled 4.5 million last year, Jester explained. More than 21 million dol lars was earmarked for work in 190 countires outside North America. Items not directly related to the denomination were «14,000 for the American Bible Society; «1,500 for the Canadian Bible Society; and «4,000 for Vellore Christian Medical College, an inter-de nominational project in India, Jester said. This year’s tithe and mission offerings from western Oregon Adventists alone has surpassed 3.3 million dollars.
