rhur-day Sept. 13,1967 The Outlook Shopper Educator Advises On College Needs AT DAMASCUS- Dr. Edwin Rumpf, Special ist in Program Planning, U. S. Office of Education, consulted with Oregon school officials and interested groups on the com munity junior college program for the Portland Metropolitan area, according to Dr. Leon P. Minear, State Supt. of Public Instruction. Dr. Rumpf is here at the re quest of the State Department of Education to look particu larly at the vocational and technical education needs in the Portland area and its re lationship to community ju nior college development. DAMASCUS — The Samuel Tani production, "Background Exotica." was presented in the LWF outdoor theatre Labor Day weekend. Earl Mossman, "Mr. Show Business,” was master of ceremonies and sang his "Lit tle World Fair” song. The barbecue dinner cooked and served Indian - style at the LWF Labor Day weekend was a success. Cooking and serving were Mrs. Sofe George, Harrah, Wash. ; Mrs. Victor Kamana, Pendleton; Lawrance Raboin, Lampoy, Ida.; and Don Burris. Mrs. Carl McLean cooked and served the Indian - fried bread. Mrs. George Treisch manned the ticket booth. ELECTRIC In June a meeting was called by Dr. Minear to discuss this type of post-high school educa tion in the Portland area. This was followed by a meeting on July 17 of a committee ap- pointed from the area by Dr. Minear from the Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah county area. This committee indicated a desire to secure the advice and counsel of out-of-state consul tants to assist in determining program needs in the area and the feasibility of forming a separate community junior col lege district. Dr. Rumpf is in Oregon as one of the consultants expected to participate on the project. Dr. Minear indicated that Dr. Rumpf will visit the counties concerned and probably meet with the Metropolitan Commun ity Junior College committee later in the week. His recommendations will be considered in connection with long-range planning for this area of the state. 30 Years of Service , Residential , Commercial , Industrial , General Contracting , Electric Heat , Motor Repairs , Light Fixtures New Schwinn Bicycles MO 5-3156 Open Saturdays 'Til Noon 17 NW First Gresham Bikes A Trikes — Repairs Saws & Tools Sharpened KEEN EDGE CYCLE SHOP 507 E.
