G en eral decreases w ere re vealed on m ost highw ay ro u tes leading to th e coast. On th e basis of th e H igh- w a y D e p artm en t’s tra ffic count, ru ra l h ig h w ay tra ffic for th e first 6 m onths of 1958 w as 0.7 p er cent g re a te r th an for th e sam e perio d in 1957, w hile u rb an tra ffic show ed a 2.1 p e r cent increase d u rin g this period.
