For Berry Feed
Mr. and Mrs. Rober Pierce left
this week for Nashua, New Hamp­
shire where they plan to make
their home. The Pierces came to
Sandy about a year ago and for
some time Mrs. Pierce, a regist­
ered nurse, worked for Dr. Noeh-
ren. They have a young son Jon
born April 21 of this year and
a daughter Linda who is one and
a half years old.

club met at the home of Mrs. Vio­
let German on June 6. The club
recenlty acquired a 48 cup coffee
urn and the members are selling
vanilla to help pay for it. It was
also planned to have a bake sale
on June 22 and 23 at the Kelso
General Merchandise store. The
next meeting of the club will be
held at the home of Mrs. Mabie
Haven at 8 PM on June 27.
Mrs. Rose Chandler and chil­
dren and Mrs. Edna Meldahl and
children of Sutherlin, Oregon were
visitors for the past week at the

eran s hospital in Portland Thurs­
day, June 14 following an illness
of several months.

father was a native of Switzerland
and his mother was born in Ger­
many. He spent his early child­
hood on a farm in Kansas. He was
married at Ritzville. Washington

Angeles, California and attained
the rank of staff sergeant.
He served in England as MP
for 18 months and was honorably
discharged on August 23, 1945
He also received the European-

short time then decided to settle
in Oregon on a berry farm
He is survived by his wife Mar­
ie daughter Bethel Irene Adams

ville, Kansas; Rosa Scholz, Frank­
furt Kansas and brothers, Ernest
of Home, Kansas; Albert and Paul

Funeral services were held Tues­
day. June 19 from the A J. Rose
and son Conservatory Chapel in

amette National cemebery Rev­
