Eight Candidates Inducted To Grange At the regular meeting of the Sandy Grange on Saturday eve ning, June 9th, a class of eight candidates were inducted into grange membership. Those receiving the third and fourth degrees were Mr. and Mrs. Henry W., Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Loyal L. Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. Wade E. Ellis, and Mr. and Mrs. Felix R. Konsella. The lecture hour featured piano solos by Edward Hall. He played selections from Schubert and his own arrangement of var iations from “When You and I Were Young.” “Vacation Tim e” furnished thè theme for amusing comments by those present and a mixing game gave opportunity to get acquaint ed with new members. Refreshments were served to The 32 present. Twenty-two members of the Sandy Grange were given the sixth-degree at the State Grange convention held at the Russel- ville school last week. A group of 300 persons at the reception were spectators of the beautiful ceremony with which Frank Rehberg presented Mr. Lyons with the Key to the City of Sandy. Jack Mainey made the key which is 14 inches long and inscribed “City of Sandy, 195J..” Refreshments were served and a good program was presented. Attending the reception from Sandy were: Mr. and Mrs. Ad olph Amstad, Mr. and Mrs. Syl vester Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Colson and Frank Rehberg. Woman’s Club Seats President, Officers At Final Meeting Mrs. Thomas Scales was in stalled as the new president of the Woman’s club of Sandy at the last meeting of the club year on Thursday, June 7th. Other officers installed were Mrs. Ivan Barker, vice president; Mrs. A. C. Baumjback, secretary and Mrs. J. N. Ferry, treasurer. Trustees installed were Mrs. R S. Hall and Mrs. R. S. Bunnell’ Mrs. Harry Reed, another trus tee, was absent. Installing offic er was Mrs. Robert Jonsrud, assisted by Mrs. E. F. Bruns. Mrs. Bunnell, retiring presi dent, was presented with a gift from the club. Mrs. Scales appointed a year book committee to plan a prog ram for the new club year be ginning in September. Mrs. Lew is Hall, Mrs. Robert Jonsrud, Mrs. Ivan Barker and Mrs. R. S. Bunnell .make up this committee. A project accomplished during the year was the finishing of the club hall interior with wall board on walls and ceilings. Club programs were cultural with local as well as outside speakers. Music programs presented local talent under the direction of Alma Francis Fields. An out standing program and tea was featured at the May meeting of the club to which all women’s organizations of the community were invited. The June 7th meeting was pre ceded by a pot luck luncheon at noon. Mrs. S. A. Mollner and Mrs. A. Gunderson acted as hostesses. The Woman’s Club of Sandy is a member of the third district, state and national Federation of Woman’s clubs and has given financial support to state and local welfare agencies as well as to the Federation’s fellowship project and penny art fund. Official Visit Made By Grand Master Of IOOF George Lyons, Grand Master of IOOF of Oregon paid his of ficial visit to Sandy Odd Fellows Lodge No. 195 Monday evening, June 18th. Sixty members, including many visitors from other lodges, at tended. The meeting was preceded by a dinner, honoring Mr. Lyons, held at the Trail Café. Those present at the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reh berg, Mr. and Mrs. George Mil ler, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Am stad, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Colson, James Stewart, Earl Shank, who is grand secretary; George How- itt, grand outside guard, and George Lyons, grand master. The 452d Bomb Wing, first air force reserve unit called to com bat as a complete unit, went into action over Korea early in Nov ember. Mrs. Carl Neumann and Mrs Kenneth Flath were jiont host esses for the June meeting of the Lutheran Women’s Mission ary League bf Immanuel Luth eran church, last Thursday at the Neumann home in Sandy. Mrs. Norbert Dey read an ar ticle on “Witness Where You Are.” Mrs. Richard Ulrich, pres ident, appointed Mrs. Carl Krie ger, Mrs. Ernest Gehrts, and Mrs. Richard Ulrich on a com mittee to be in charge of the July meeting which will be held on. the second Sunday in July in the church park.
