He has served three years with the navy in the South Pacific area. Billy Miller arrived home last Saturday to spend the holiday season with home folks after completing a 7000 mile cruise with the merchant marine ser vice. George Pischel motored to Cor vallis Tuesday to attend a region al meeting of the REA. Mrs. C. Neuhaus motored to Estacada Monday taking her son who was inducted into the arm ed forces. Mrs. Neuhaus returned to Estacada Tuesday where she will be employed as telephone operator by the Estacada tele- | phone company. A large number of boys from Sandy and vidnibc have been ar riving home to spend the holiday season, some from overseas and some from stations in the states. A register of those arriving is being kept at the office of the local ration board. John Christensen and Billy Johnston left Monday evening for Los Angeles to spend the holidays with the formers sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Calhoun and Mis Ruth Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. LaGourgue left Tuesday night for Los An geles where they will spend tne holiday season visiting relatives. Their son, Robert Jr., is in an army hospital a t that place with malaria. Mrs. E. J. Anderson received a letter early this week from her husband who is in a hospital in England recovering from wounds received in action on the Euro pean front. A brother of Mr. Anderson has been reported kil led on that same front. The approaching holiday season makes us appreciate more than ever before the priceless value of our friends and customers', like yourself. It reminds us, too, of the sacrifice being made by many of our friends now in the service of Uncle Sam. The Eastern Star ie sponsoring a card party at the Masonic tem ple, Saturday night, December 23. Everybody is invited and a good time is assured. The Kelso Women’s club will meet at the home of Mrs. Bag- ley on Thursday, December 28. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tooley w*11 go to Clatskanie to spend the holiday season. The latters par ents celebrate their golden weed- ding anniversary December 24th and all their children will be'pre sent to help them celebrate a double holiday. A large number of local Odd Fellows motored to Estacada Tuesday night, taking a candi date to receive the third degree which was conferred by the Es tacada lodge.
