Centered seniors By Beverly Dunlap For the Port Orford News “Sadness, fear, frustration or any troubling feeling cannot last. Nature doesn't create a storm that never ends.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life. Taken from the May 2008 Guideposts maga- zine. How long is it going to rain this spring? It seems endless but then a day will clear to the most elegant sunny spring day! A few hours later, we are back into wind and rain. I don't know about you, but that brings out the sadness, fear and frustration that Dr Dyer is talking about. Like he says, no storm can last forever! Thank God! We have all been buying the wood to build our ark! Of course, we will need to row the boat with no gasoline powered devices because we have no idea how long it will last - the storm that is! (nor the price of gasoline!) Seriously ill ... I heard a commentator on TV the other day talking about gas prices that he thinks may rise to over $6/gal! I wonder if that will have any affect on the amount of RV's and cars we normally see all summer up and down 101. They make move- ment around our little town dif- ficult. I let that bother me at first but having lived here for awhile, I realize that the traffic equals income for our mer- chants. So that is a good thing. I just thought, there are many things that are both good and bad. I am thinking of friends now. People that we associate with frequently can sometimes get on our nerves and then on another day, we find and enjoy the great relationship with them. Not that they do anything bad, just that we all have our little idiosyncrasies. The next day, they are right back to being the person that is our dear friend. One of my favorite sayings is; “this too shall pass!” I am sure it will. The sunny fun of summer, gasoline prices will return to more normal - houses will sell again and the economy will reverse - it always has. I am not a political person, but I feel like trying to find someone to live in the White House has everyone in the tilt position. Maybe, just maybe when that lofty position gets filled, we will begin to settle down in our country! (Do not hold your breath!) The fine quality of patience is needed by all of us today and always. We are able to develop skills within ourselves and so it would seem that would be a good time to develop our patience, that is while we sit inside and wait for the rain, wind and gas prices to calm down! Hang in there readers - if the rains come, can the dry summer be far behind? Have a happy week, and you may want to try walking. They say it is very good for you and the people that do it always seem happy to me! Remember to be happy - always!
