Chiefs note: Pedestrian Crosswalk program Stop Signs will be placed on 12th Street at the intersection of Arizona Street on Tuesday the 27the Please pay attention when you’re in that area and remember to stop. We will have an officer in that area during the first week or so until everyone realizes there has been a new sign placed there. The reason the city is making that a four-way stop is to slow down traffic before they enter the school zone area where many pedestrians are out. We have been receiving complaints of attempted gas thefts so remember to get a locking gas cap and park your vehicle in a lighted area so you can observe it if you hear any sound sand we can see movement while were patrolling. We have started the Three Flags “Click it or Ticket” Campaign so remember “You know who you are” keep your seat belt on it may save your life.” Contributed photo Patty Barnes of the Port Orford Police Department will be occasionally riding her bike around town check- ing some burn permits and just being observed and available to the public, according to Port Orford Police Chief Mark Creighton. “I think it is a very good idea. Clerk Barnes suggested that she be able to ride her bike around instead of her personal vehicle when she checks some burning permits when an officer is not immediately available to perform that task. It is great for moral, police/public relations, and saves gas.” Community news briefs Park host position The City of Port Orford and the Parks Commission are seeking a Park Host for Buffington Park.
