Manufacturing establish ments in the state are being surveyed by the State Econo mic Development Division to obtain information for the 1974 edition of the Directory of Oregon M anufacturers. Most firms will receive a computer print-out of their listing in the 1972 directory, according to Edward J. Whe lan, director of the Economic Development Division. They are being asked to revise the listing to reflect current in formation. New companies established since the 1972 directory was compiled- will receive a short questionnaire. The biennial directory is much in demand as a guide to buyers seeking Oregon sources of supply. It is also used as a research tool. Hie Port of Port orford will meet with a representative of the U.S. Army Corps of En gineers at the regular Port meeting on July 17 to hear a report on preliminary data from the model study of the local harbor. The study is be ing made at the Waterways Ex periment Station in Vicksburg, M ississippi, to determine cur rant action in the local harbor. Completed results of the tests are expected to pro vide Engineers with informa tion necessary to remedy the shoaling problem here. Col. Paul D. Port president Leo Phillips said the skipper of the Sandwlck told him it was not possible to begin operations with boats and moorings in present lo cations. He requested they be moved . . . or he won’t begin clearing the channel.
