D r. L illia n V an Lean Is Guest Speaker M rs . Anna Thomas introdu ced D r. L illia n Van Loan, psy chologist and counselor at the Southwestern Oregon College in North Bend, who spoke to the group of "Women and T h e ir Roll In L ife .” "T h e concept is that women have fallen short of their po te n tia ls ,” said M rs . Van Loar who pointed out that many are doing great things, but since 1920 too many wcmen have ta ken the easy way out and at the present ilm e are only using IO1' of th e ir potential. She went on to say that it has l>ee-i proven that women are physically s t r c - .-T tha-. men, although s ta tis t“ « si.ow 90T of the psychos j mental pltals are w om ei. Women are not ad ju s t i ng: there was a tim e when most elem entary schools had women principals but with increased pay, men have taken these po sitions o ver, and not conceding that men are more Intelligent or better qualified. She went on to say that if the w o r ld is going to get better, women w ill have to play a larger part and the place to start is here. T o f ill our minds with triv ia l things is not enough—demand dividends! "L a lo r-s a v in g de vices with m o r e time for flu ff— that better be left under the bed!” " T h e great waste In Am erica today Is tnat women’ s brains are being wasted. People should be judged on th eir m erit and not th eir sex. Men are getting positions every day where wo men are re a lly better quali fie d ,” said M rs . Van Loan. "T h e body may tire but one cannot fatigue the brain and it is a pity if women go to bed at night and haven’t learned at least one new thing during the day. The greatest difficulty with women and th eir health is their dissatisfaction with life . They are content to say "y e s ” to their children who too soon realize that the 'm other is liv ing In them .’ Only when wom en have high standards do their children have success and are able to accomplish success. In any country where the women are degenerate, the country' I s down and unsuccessful.” " L e t ’ s see the women out to accomplish ‘good.’ Only when you personally take active part do you personally benefit. There a re those who see fit to c rit icize; they are the ones who fa ll to accomplish anything a> d a te dead.” T R A IL RIDERS ELEC T The Langlois 4-H T r a il Ri ders club met at the home of th eir leader, Paul Smith, last Thursday evening.
