A Good Financier
In a certain home there was a 10c fine for each
made on the taole linen. Around Christmas Johnnie
mysteriously rubbing the table cloth with his fingers,
sister saw him. “What are you doing?’’she asked,
making these two sputa into one,’’ said the financier.

Great Power in Flesh
Like produces like.
Flesh makes flesh.
The strongest and hardiest people are
those who consume MEAT.
The American Indian lived largely on
buffalo and bear steak.
“John Bull,” that model of hardihood
would starve without his roast.
An American is but half a man without
his ‘‘ham and.”
Our meats are always the best to be had.
See us for strength-giving meals.

The Oregonian of a abort time ago
contained the death notice of Rev.
Elkanah Walker, who at one time wae
a public school teacher in Dayton. Few
people are here now that knew and re
member this man but he is well remem
bered by a Dayton woman who went
to school to him many years ago. She
also remembers a number of the songs
he used to sing with a guitar ascom-
panyment—
SAD, SAD, SAD!—His horse went
dead and his mule went lame; he lost
his cows in a poker game; a eyclone
came on a summer’s day and blow his
house and barn away; an earthquake
came when they were gone and swal
lowed the ground the house ws« on; the
tax collector then came round and
charged him for the hole in the ground.

Success Assured
When a man has proved his ability to make
money and to handle money wisely his suc
cess is practically assured.
Year after year opportunities come to those
who are ready for them. Money helps in so
many ways that it is strange more people do
not have savings accounts.

Standard mine of the Richland Coal
company, two miles from Wellsburg,
