Call again ladies. C. R. Watson has taken a crew of workmen and gone to Neppel, Wash., where they will erect a building for the Standard Oil Co. Albert Jenness who has been here a couple of weeks making improvements on his farm near Dayton, returned Monday to his home in Hammond, Wisconsin. Miss Lulu Simmons, a teacher in the schools in Portland came Thursday morning to spend the week end with Mrs. J. L. Sher- man of this city. The heavy rains of the past few days and the high water of the winter has caused a porti n of the ground on Mrs. Ott’s place to slide into the river. This is the second land slide in this section along the Yamhill, the other one being near the Tom Miller place. A. J. McCann and wife motor ed to Salem a day or so ago and viewed some of our State build ings (they say from the out side) including the Penitentiary and Asylum. They report having an enjoyable time, and we are pleas ed to state they are now home a- gain and happy. The Southern Pacific Co. has remodeled its station at St. Joe, installed a crossing alarm and established a creosoting plant. Stoll and family motored from Portland Sunday and vis ited with his neice, Mrs. Carl Fischer of this city. Mrs. C. R. Watson and^Joe Turner and family were in the county seat Monday attending the Dunn will contest. There has been considerable work done on the streets in this city during the past week. Third street has been graded and put in good condition and the surplus dirt has been hauled to Main St. There has also been some work done on Fourth street in the same manner.
