Street Roots • April 13-19, 2018 Street Poetry Page 14 Another Little Big Horn In-Between Time by Ron Sanford by Bryant King You’ve never been affected by gun violence? You say, “It could’ve been me!” repeatedly Yet in America we see violence increasing Having escaped several tiffs involving guns, I myself can say that I am fortunate and blessed. But, indirectly, it has taken a toll on my emotions, my family, My health care, my occupation, and I must admit At times I catch myself becoming cold and insensitive, So I take time out to meditate and pray, the only way to retain some sanity. Alcohol-free, I’m happy to be me, aware and sober until the end. The Druids take a special interest in in-between things like mistletoe, which is neither a plant nor tree, and mist, which is neither rain nor air and dreams, which are neither sleep nor waking. The in-between can be our specialty. We will thrive in our relationship to anything that lives in two worlds or has paradoxical qualities and we will exult in educational delights coming from our willingness to be mystified! Oregon Wild and the Portland EcoFilm Festival How do you share health? At Health Share, we believe good health is more than what happens inside your doctor’s office. Good health starts in your community and includes staying active, eating healthy food and getting regular check-ups. Share your healthy habits with family and friends. We can all have better health when we share it together. Better health together. www.healthshareoregon.org
