Street Roots • June 9-15, 2017 Poetry Poems Under Different Names by A ve n d o r I swept the throne room of the king I kept the dolphins and heard them sing At the foot of the tower I begged for change and read these poems under different names. I carried the quartz scepter through the kingdom in the clouds I met you in the valleys far from the maddening crowd And often when, the mythical birds of morning began to chirp I had my sweat, and your tears dampening my shirt. And so if you ever find yourself alone and brokenhearted by the Thames You can read these poems under different names.
