♦ ♦ Street Roots • March 31 -April 6, 2017 Poetry Page 14 Guerillas crone hood revisited by Ron Sanford by j.mccurdy Like cats and dogs, primates are very prolific breeders Basically there are two different kinds Those that are wild and those that have been tamed Some maintain that any animal can learn to obey If nurtured and loved, they can go on to do great things Like be in a circus or be some lucky owner’s pet Or work as a service animal for a lonely vet Trained is one thing, but domesticated another Zebras and such, they all have different minds But it’s kill or be killed. Us versus them. Tooth nail and claw wins Predator and prey, is might truly right? Deep flaws remain A dark side needless to say, they envy steal and rape Build, eat, shit, wallow in a mud and set traps Ambush! You’re dead! And although they are so cute If given a chance they may rip off your head her smile wrapped itself up in sacred mystery in welcome home have a seat and set a spell comfort the painted desert bowed itself down to her old age beauty and she bowed herself to its wisdom endless appreciation reciprocated Naturally Like guerillas the males will dominate their little space Brutal cold and stubborn because because they don’t know how to think They act on impulse and never see their own mistakes Feel they can do what they please because they own big sticks They will love you back if you take the time to love them Give them lots of bones and they will be with you to the end They killed so you could be free, now they need you to be their friend Need help getting health care?
