helped create the Welcome Home Coalition and
deliver Portland^ first affordable housing ballot
measure. People told us it couldn’t be done in
less than two years. Portland voted 62 percent
in favor of giving people a place to call home.
That’s not all. At the core of the Street Roots
mission is to give people experiencing
homelessness an income. With your support,

year, we have helped provide stability allowing
dozens of vendors to gain access to housing.
We’ve allowed hundreds more to avoid
homelessness.
It’s about more than simply housing. It’s
about having access to human connection and
authentic relationships. It’s about creating a
safe space for both people on the streets and
readers like you. It’s about learning and
growing together.
“For me Street Roots means dignity, because
I now have a purpose,” said Shayne Methvin. “I
have a job and I am helping not only myself, but
other people. It makes me feel good. I have
self-respect I don’t feel bad about myself
anymore.”
