Leon Ransom, a native Pendletonian, runs the only black-owned business in Pendleton. H is parents were sharecroppers in Mississippi before moving to Eastern Oregon, where hts father took a job on the railroads. H is story is one o f many compiled for the State o f Black Oregon 2015 report, produced by the Urban League o f Portland. "1 th in k what my childhood experience does is allows me to be a mythbnster when it comes to, 'Oh, well, Portland is so «real now? it's so mnch better than it ever was before.' That's not true for a lo t of Portlanders.
